I'm very excited to be releasing my debut album Westbound on 24th June 2025 with a special launch gig at Water Rats hosted by Folk & Roots. Tickets for the launch are on sale now and the gig will feature the Clementine Lovell Trio as well as guest artists who play on the album.
The album is available to pre-order now as an audio CD with 12 page booklet including the lyrics and background to the songs.
Westbound is produced by Marion Fleetwood (Feast of Fiddles, Sandy Denny Project), and features musicians from the Clementine Lovell Trio - fiddle player Duncan Menzies (Copper Viper, Club Debris) and percussionist Carmen Ruiz Vicente (Savannah Gardner, Dom Glynn) - as well as a host of guest artists including James Keay (Sam Lee), Robbie K. Jones (Track Dogs), Tom Leary (Feast of Fiddles), and Ric Sanders (Fairport Convention).
The ten tracks, eight original songs and two reworkings of traditional songs, are rooted in both English and Irish folk, with influences of folk rock, Americana, and experimental music. It was a joy to work with incredible musicians on this album, and the rich and layered instrumentation includes fiddle, percussion, banjo, mandolin, slide guitar, cello, bass and piano. The album takes you on a journey to the places where I grew up - the beautiful apple orchards of Herefordshire and the rugged coast of West Cork - with the stories of ordinary people and the struggles, joys and emotions that connect us and make us human.
